Aims and Scope

d.a.t. [divulgazioneaudiotestuale] is a peer-reviewed digital journal with open access, founded in 2017 with the purpose of stimulating reflection on the relationships between music production and music education within the broad spectrum of the arts and performing arts disciplines. The journal publishes studies focused on pedagogical and didactic music issues, offering a platform for research and insights in the intersection of music, education, and the expanded possibilities of sound and language.

The journal’s name plays on the homophony of the famous DAT (Digital Audio Tape), reflecting both the dissemination of art music—defined as music motivated by thought as well as action—and its transmission within the educational experience. Contributions from scholars and artists are invited to communicate their research in the field of sound, extending beyond traditional boundaries to encompass the spoken word.

d.a.t. publishes two issues annually, in April and October, aiming to highlight the musical experience as an inseparable crossroads of theory and practice. The journal welcomes submissions in Italian, French, and English, ensuring its accessibility to a broad international audience. Through its interdisciplinary approach, d.a.t. provides a forum for critical discourse on the evolving role of music in education, with a particular focus on the intersections between artistic creation, pedagogy, and the expanding forms of musical expression.
